New management at it-economics

After 18 years, the founders Torsten Klein and Tobias Fischer are retiring from it-economics to face new challenges.

Klaus Wiedemann becomes the new CEO. In addition, the management is complemented by Stefan Schmid, partner at it-economics, and Frédéric Munch, head of Sopra Steria Next, the management consulting division of the parent company Sopra Steria.

"When we were founded in 2003, we never dreamed of constantly expanding it-economics with year after year positive development to over 240 employees at seven locations. With the takeover by Sopra Steria, we were able to further expand our strengths in IT and method consulting as an independent subsidiary. Despite Corona, 2020 was our most successful year,” says Torsten Klein. "So after 18 years, with it-economics coming of age and the sustainable course for success, now is the right time for me to hand over the baton. it-economics was a defining part of my life, but now I'm tempted to start a new chapter."

New management with Klaus Wiedemann, Stefan Schmid and Frédéric Munch

The new CEO is Klaus Wiedemann, who came to it-economics four years ago. He has known the company founders since a joint project more than twenty-five years ago and was already working very closely with Stefan Schmid back then. As a partner, he has had a significant say in the fortunes of it-economics for more than 15 years and is now moving up to the new management.

"I am very pleased that Torsten and the it-economics partner group unanimously recommended me for the successor as CEO when the handover of the baton was discussed last year, and that our shareholder at Sopra Steria also expressed their confidence in me," says Klaus Wiedemann. "I know we have big shoes to fill. I think I speak for all my colleagues when I say: Thank you very much for the remarkable success story and all the best for the future.”

Closer integration of it-economics and Sopra Steria Next

Frédéric Munch, who has been responsible for the Sopra Steria Next strategy unit since 2019, is strengthening the team as the third managing director. The closer cooperation with Sopra Steria Next is intended to strengthen the synergies between Sopra Steria and it-economics, which result in the area of digitization through the combination of strategy consulting and IT implementation. The two units of Sopra Steria SE are already working together successfully on acquisitions and customer projects and would like to dovetail even more closely.

"I am looking forward to strengthening the it-economics team and to supporting customers holistically in digitization together. I see the independence of it-economics within the Sopra Steria Group as a great opportunity to achieve synergies in market positioning," says Frédéric Munch.

Marco Klotzbach is the new CFO

As part of the new management, there is also a change in the finance area: with Tobias Fischer, another founder of it-economics has decided to break new ground. "The conversion of our financial reporting from the requirements of an owner-managed company to those of a listed parent company was challenging - this motivated me again. Now that this task has been successfully completed for some time, I see the opportunity to withdraw from the finance area, which I was allowed to take over in the course of growth, in the next few months and to face other challenges again," says Tobias Fischer happily. Marco Klotzbach will be his successor. The business graduate with a focus on taxes and auditing has known the business of it-economics very well for years as deputy head of controlling and business partner controlling in the banking division at Sopra Steria.
