5 questions to Philipp – IT project manager from Munich
Who are you? Please introduce yourself.
Hello, I am Philipp, Senior Manager at our Munich location.
How did you come to it-economics?
After my studies of computer science I worked for many years at a large consulting firm. In terms of projects and clients, I had a lot of variety, but internally I wanted to see something new and at the same time stay true to the consulting business. it-economics was exactly what I was looking for: a medium-sized consulting firm, large enough for networking and variety, yet small enough to take on more responsibility internally and to make use of room for maneuver.
What do you like best about your job?
I like variety and like to think about new topics. When I come across a new project, especially with a client who is new to me, it is always a leap in the dark. I then have to quickly understand the problem and framework conditions, build networks and absorb the customer culture. I often think back to my time as a backpacker travelling to distant countries – the challenges were quite similar.
What are you working on?
At the moment I am involved in a project that is being implemented mainly in Singapore. I like the complexity of the tasks and the international flair. I already know Singapore from my studies abroad, which of course helps.
What don’t you like?
Due to the time difference, direct communication is only possible in the early morning. I’m not really an early riser, but sometimes this is necessary for effective cooperation.
What do you appreciate most about it-economics?
I have many opportunities to get involved internally. I can assume responsibility and enjoy the trust and freedom to develop topics that are important for our employees and our customers. For example, as Product Owner of our “Software Delivery Management” Value Team, I am responsible for developing the service portfolio for customers and offering our employees appropriate training. My motivation, which brought me to it-economics almost five years ago, has been confirmed to this day.

“With us, no day is like the other, I like the variety because every day offers the chance to develop. I especially like the exchange with my colleagues – a smart, humorous group that pulls together and on which I can build.”
“I like working at it-economics because we are a cool team with friendly and helpful colleagues. I appreciate our flat hierarchies with superiors who listen and appreciate. In addition, we are strongly encouraged in terms of further development, whether through further training or learning from colleagues, which makes us fit for interdisciplinary work”.
“I love my job as a Project Lead, because it is very diverse due to the people, the scope of the project and the new challenges I have to face. This gives me the opportunity to constantly develop myself and learn new things. Together with my team I work out the best possible solutions for our customers, with the focus on making processes and procedures efficient. As a manager, I actively promote open communication within the team, as I believe this is essential for successful project implementation.
